The ICAPC is an international conference, organized by the Korean Counseling Association and American Counseling Association, held in Seoul, South Korea on August 6-8th 2020. Its mission is to support research and practice in the field of counseling in the Asia-Pacific region and enrich professional networks among counseling researchers and practitioners globally.
The Korean Counseling Association was established on June 3rd, 2000, with 600 members, and has since developed into the representative organization in Korean counseling and mentalhealth. By 2019, KCA has grown to include approximately 26,150 members, 14 sub-divisions, 9 regional departments, 13 standing committees, and 10 special committees. In addition, KCA publishes 3 journals on a regular basis (Korean Journal of Counseling, The Journal of Asia Pacific Counselingm [JAPC], and Counseling Research: Case and Practice).
South Korea (the Republic of Korea) is a country visited by approximately 10,000,000 people each year from all over the world. Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is a unique city full of character, where Korea’s rich cultural and historical heritages blend seamlessly with the rapid developments of 21st century life. The ICAPC seeks proposals that address timely topics and current challenges faced by counselors and mental health practitioners. All proposals welcomed including, however are not limited to, exploring the conference theme: Counseling Globalization. Educational sessions are intended to convey specific knowledge or skills, and poster sessions are intended to share research and best practices.
